The Very First Burn
Ensure that you burn the candle until the wax melt till the edge of the jar to prevent tunnelling and a more even burn for subsequent burning sessions. This is guaranteed to prolong your candle's lifetime.
Burn the candle for about two hours to ensure the liquidation of the top layer of wax and the resolidification then. If the duration of the burn is insufficient, only the area around the wick will melt, causing tunneling, which will make the appearance look ugly and shorten the candle's lifespan.
Before Each Burn
Be sure to trim the wick to ¼ inch to avoid uneven burning and curling of the wick as they burn. Trimming the wick helps to maintain control of the melted wax, minimising the amount of soot it will create. Not only that, the candle will also burn more evenly, Leaving a long wick will also cause the wax to melt even faster, driving the candle more fuel which will in turn lead to the creation of more soot.
During Each Burn
Keep each session to within 2 to 3 hours to ensure the candle burns evenly and slowing down the essential oil burn out. If burnt longer, the wax will heat to extent which will cause the scent to reduce greatly.
Never ever leave a lighted candle unattended while you are asleep or when you are outside of the room. This is especially so if the candle is placed beside something that would easily catch fire which could cause unnecessary tragic deaths caused by fires.
Never burn a candle near anything that would cause potential fire breakouts like paper, curtains, etc. Prevention is better than cure.
Extinguishing The Candle
It is not recommended to put out the candle by directly blowing it out as the chances of the wick continuing to glow and letting out smoke is high. Do not use water to extinguish the candle too. Instead, you can suffocate the flame by laying the lid down over the top of the jar gently, there is no need to close it tightly (unless the flame do not seem to settle down) as the oxygen in the jar will eventually be used up. It is very effective method, when the flame is out, it will not release any smoke (or minimal smoke) as it will be contained under the lid. Alternatively, the best way is to use a candle snuffer.
Do Not Burn All The Way Down
We understand that you would want to maximise the burning time of the candle and make your money worth. However, if you were to burn all the way to the bottom of the jar, you would risk causing heat damage to the jar and surface. So, discontinue burning the candle when there is ½ to ¼ inches of wax left in the jar.
Best Before
We highly recommend burning the candles within 4 to 6 months from the purchase date as we use natural plant-based essential blends.
Storing & Cleaning Tips
Store candles in a cool, dark, and dry environment, away from direct sunlight. Once a candle has been used up, remove the wax with hot water. Hot water will melt the wax, causing it to float to the surface of the jar. Remove the wax after it has cooled completely with a spoon. After which, remove dust by rubbing the jar gently with a piece of cloth.
Other Safety Tips
Keep candles out of reach of kids and pets to prevent it from being knocked over and causing tragic accidents. Extinguish a candle when the flame flickers uncontrollably, let it cool before trimming the wick and re-light it. Place candles on a heat-resistant surface and enusre that it is stable. Before leaving the room or heading to bed, ensure that the flame has been put out completely and there is no glow visible.
Other Tips To Maximise Burn Time
Keep away from burning at windy spaces (fans, open windows, AC, etc) as stray winds can reduce burn time, cause burning to be uneven and completely extinguish the flame without your intention. Avoid exposing candles to direcct sunlight or strong lighting.
